JEIC champions children’s spiritual development through provocative new films

We are excited to celebrate JEIC’s newly-released films illustrating how current Jewish educational practices may stunt children’s spiritual development.

The film ‘A Daughter's Story’ by Dreamworks producer Saul Blinkoff takes a hard look at how kids are turned on - or off - to enjoying Jewish learning and developing a personal relationship with God.

Accompanying the feature, Shmuel Hoffman's making-of film provides a behind-the-scenes look at the production, ideas, and reactions to ‘A Daughter's Story.’

Mayberg Foundation Trustees, Staff and Grantee Clients Participate in ZoomOut Summit on Jewish Education

Mayberg Foundation Trustee, Manette Mayberg, in addition to Foundation staff and grantee clients had the honor to participate in three sessions at the ZoomOut Summit on July 13-14, 2020, to discuss and envision the future of Jewish education. The conference, facilitated by The Israeli American Council and Tel Aviv University Online Innovative Learning Center, prompted meaningful exploration about how to reimagine the classroom.

All three sessions—highlighted below—offered insight and wisdom that can have a positive impact on shaping Jewish education.

Zooming in with the Funders: The Future of Jewish Education

In this session, Manette Mayberg, in conversation with Andres Spokoiny, President and CEO of Jewish Funders Network discussed the importance of cutting-edge innovations to help Jewish education evolve, specifically in wake of the uncertain realm of Covid-19. She expanded on what she believes will be the new role of teachers and emphasized the importance of a shared vision and collaboration among local and national funders to shape a stronger future generation of Jewish leadership.

Chevy Chase, MD -- The Jewish Education Innovation Challenge's (JEIC) 2018 Innovators Retreat brought together almost 100 Jewish day school change agents at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center on April 25-26, 2018, for robust discussions about how to create more effective Jewish day schools and radically improve students' Judaic studies learning experiences.

Day school educators, philanthropists, academics, policy makers and parents participated in a unique dialogue aimed at "Connecting the Dots," which was the theme for JEIC's 6th annual Innovators Retreat.

Washington Jewish Week's coverage of JEIC hiring new Managing Director to Join Leadership Team

The Mayberg Foundation is pleased to announce that esteemed Jewish day school educator, Sharon Freundel, will join the Jewish Education Innovation Challenge (JEIC) leadership team as Managing Director effective July, 2018, and will begin transitioning into the role in February, 2018.  Sharon will work closely with Rabbi Shmuel Feld, who will serve as JEIC’s Founding Director. Together they will expand JEIC’s focus from stimulating development of dynamic educational models to include ongoing work with schools pursuing program integration and sustainable culture change.
